Export interactions media failure

Users without the permission to View Storage Targets that are defined in Enterprise Manager must define an SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) destination during the export process. If an export failure occurs, the system reports it in the email notification.

Possible cause

The number of characters used for the full path of the export destination on the SFTP server is too long. The full path on the SFTP server is a combination of the following elements:

Element

Maximum characters allowed

Description

Export Name

16

The name specified by the user when exporting

Path

32

The path on the SFTP server specified when exporting.

Internal usage

75

Internal data used by the system for the export.

SFTP root path

Varies by server

The SFTP root path on the server above the user-accessible area, as configured by your SFTP administrator. The root path includes the drive letter on the server.

Example: Full path limit on server is 260 characters.

If the maximum number of characters for a full path the server supports is 260 characters, the maximum SFTP root path is 137 characters.
(260-16-32-75 = 137)

Example: Full path limit on server is 230 characters.

If the maximum number of characters for a full path the server supports is 230 characters, the maximum SFTP root path is 107 characters.
(230-16-32-75 = 107)

Solution

Contact your SFTP server administrator, who needs to determine if the SFTP root path is too long. The administrator determines the full path limit the server supports. Based on that limit, calculate the maximum SFTP root path available for exporting interactions media. If the SFTP root path is too long, the administrator needs to shorten it.
