Compliance capture in trading environments

Trading environments with full-time, compliance capture use turrets. A turret contains banks of speakers and a microphone, one or more handsets, and intercoms. Traders use turrets to communicate with other traders, banking counterparts, and customers.

VOX and CTI capture

The system captures interactions from the turret using both CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) events and VOX (Voice Operated Switch) capture. Both types of interactions result in one or more recorded segments. For long interactions, a segment is a portion of a complete interaction In Speech Analytics, an interaction represents a single part of the contact between one employee and the same customer. In Text Analytics, an interaction is the communication session between one or more employees and the same customer with a unifying contextual element..

Searching by VOX or CTI interactions

For trading environments, the distinction between VOX and CTI capture is important to understand when searching and replaying interactions. Use the Advanced Search feature to search for VOX-only interactions or CTI-only interactions. The default search includes both.

Trading interaction types

  • Trading Speaker

Turret speakers enable traders to listen and speak with multiple parties simultaneously. Audio from the turret speakers can be mixed when recording occurs. For example, two, four, or eight speakers are mixed into a single recording channel. When you replay a trading speaker interaction, understand that mixing of audio does occur.

    • Search by VOX-only to locate segments when voice capture actually took place.

    • Search by CTI to locate segments when the turret speakers were connected with the switch. If the speakers are connected to the switch for over two hours, interaction capture is divided into multiple segments of up to two-hours each.

  • Trading Intercom

A trading intercom interaction is an internal conversation between two or more traders through a handset or over the microphone and speakers. An intercom interaction is similar to a phone interaction. CTI recording control for the intercom is typically available.

  • Trading Shout

A trading shout interaction results from a trader issuing a brief communication through the speaker channel.

  • Phone (handset): A phone interaction is when a trader communicates directly with another trader or a customer through the turret handset. A turret usually has two handsets, which can be mixed into a single channel. CTI recording control for the handset is typically available.
